These onion rings are the perfect raw snack replacement for crispy, salty chips. They can also be crumbled and added to raw ranch dressing to make a french onion dip. (video coming soon with that recipe) ~Since adapting the raw food lifestyle 4 months ago, Laura has released 32 pounds. Currently she is 90% raw and still in transition. A medical diagnosis of severe anemia and leukemia prompted the change from a vegetarian diet to a raw food vegan lifestyle. Laura has experienced immense improvement in lab/blood tests as well as in her energy and overall health since switching to raw foods. UPDATE: The anemia is now reversed and cured!!!~
I have made these twice. The first time I used olive oil and tamari and after 3 days in the dehydrator they were still soft and had spoiled. This time, I have had them in the dehydrator for 3 days and they are still soft and I didn't use the olive oil. I used about 5 pounds of sliced onions and 2 T. tamari. After soaking I drained very, very well and after 3 days they are still soft. I live in the desert, so they are not soft because of the humidity (the humidity has been between 10% & 15%). The cost of the electricity needed to "attempt" to make these scares me! I won't be making them again!!!
